WORLD FOOD INDIA 2023 “An Opportunity to showcase the strength of Gujarat in Food Processing Sector”

 

Today Food processing Conference and Regional Industry Meet was organised at Ahmedabad to bring all the stakeholders of the Agro – Food Processing sector with special focus on world Food India and to celebrates Millets Year 2023. The conference was organised by Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) and managed by Knowledge Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI)

In the wake of the United Nations General Assembly declaring 2023 as the International Year of Millets, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries is hosting Millets Mahotsav across 20 States and 30 Districts in the country with the aim of creating awareness about the nutritional benefits, value addition, consumption and export potential of Millets and this event in Ahmedabad was one of it.

Minister of Agriculture, Government of Gujarat, Shri Raghavji Patel was the chief guest of the program and during his inaugural address, he touched upon the importance of millets and the immense market potential for millet-based value-added products. He informed the stakeholders about the various initiatives undertaken by the Government of India along with State Government of Gujarat for Millets awareness. He stated that Farmers will be Farmprenuers through Processing.

The Guest of Honor, Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha, Additional Secretary, MoFPI also highlighted Ministry of Food Processing Industries support for the food processing sector and its various initiatives for the development of Food Processing sector at large.
In addition to the Millets Mahotsav, Shri Sonaj Kumar Jha also highlighted a mega-food event will be organized by the MoFPI from 3rd to 5th Nov 2023 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi to provide a unique platform to all stakeholders i.e., Producers, Food Processors, Equipment Manufacturers, Logistics Players, Cold Chain Players, Technology Providers, Academia, Start-Up & Innovators, Food Retailers, etc. to interact and have a dialogue. The event was slated to be the biggest-ever congregation of Dignitaries, Global Investors and Business Leaders of major global and domestic food companies which would put India firmly on the global food landscape.

He also met Food Processing Industries of Gujarat and invited them to participate in World food India.

Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation Mrs. Hetalben Desai cited the role of the PMFME Scheme in empowering micro food processing enterprises by providing financial, technical and business support across the value chain.
Shri Bharat Patel and Shri Dhaval Rawal from KCCI highlighted the opportunities and created a help desk for the entrepreneurs.

Other senior government officers from Centre as well as State governments like APEDA, GAIC, MSMEDI, QCI also participated with great enthusiasm and they created awareness about the various schemes of their respective bodies. The economic think tank views expressed in the industry panel session which was appreciated by the participants.

The event witnessed an overwhelming response with more than 250 participants attending the event including Food Processing Enterprises, Self-Help Groups, Farmer Producer Organizations, etc.

Apart from this, there were more than 22 companies including millet products who displayed their product and services through exhibition.
