Morari Bapu lauds Modi government’s move to invite teachers, farmers, fishermen as guests for Independence Day celebrations

Cambridge: Noted spiritual leader Morari Bapu has lauded the Narendra Modi-led central government for inviting teachers, fishermen and farmers as guests at the celebrations of Independence Day in New Delhi.
“The move to invite fishermen, teachers and farmers to the celebrations of Independence Day is a very good gesture. This is possibly the first time ever that so many common people have been invited as guests to the celebrations. It is good move,” Morari Bapu said during his Ram Katha at the University of Cambridge on Tuesday morning.
Morari Bapu added that he was touched by the gesture.
The country celebrated its 77th Independence Day with fervour on Tuesday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the celebrations from the ramparts of the Red Fort. In addition to top political leaders, bureaucrats, judges, and other dignitaries, the Centre invited 1,800 people from different walks of life as guests at the celebrations.
According to officials, more than 400 village sarpanches, 300 farmers, 50 primary school teachers, nurses and fishermen from all over the country were invited as guests to the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. Also on the special guest list were 50 construction workers, who were involved in the construction of the new Parliament building, 50 other workers involved in the construction of border roads and other projects, and 75 couples in traditional attires.
Morari Bapu’s ongoing Ram Katha is being held at Jesus College, University of Cambridge. The discourse is a celebration of the long-standing relationship between Indian and English civilisations. The Ram Katha will culminate on August 20.
