કથા બીજ પંક્તિ:
રામચરિત ચિંતામનિ ચારુ,
સંત સુમતિ તિય સુભગ સિંગારુ;
જગ મંગલ ગુન ગ્રામ રામ કે,
દાની મુકુતિ ધનુ ધરમ ધામ કે.

બોસ્ટન અમેરિકાની ભૂમિ પરથી કથાનાં પહેલા દિવસે આરંભ પહેલા નિમિતમાત્ર યજમાન ચંદ્રકાંતભાઈએ પરિવાર,શાંતિનિકેતન-રામકબીર પરિવાર તરફથી સ્વાગત કરતા શુદ્ધ ગુજરાતીમાં કહ્યું કે વાણીનું પરબ્રહ્મ સાથે લગ્ન થઈ રહ્યું છે,આ નવ દિવસનો લગ્ન ઉત્સવ છે.સાથે-સાથે યુવાન બાળકો ભક્તિ,હીના,પાર્થ,આર્ત,પંત વગેરેએ પોતપોતાના ભાવ રજૂ કર્યા.
આમ તો ભારત અને અમેરિકા વચ્ચે લગભગ ૯:૩૦ કલાકનાં સમય તફાવતને કારણે શનિવારથી શરૂ થયેલી રામકથા મોડી રાત્રે જીવંત રૂપે યુ-ટ્યુબનાં માધ્યમથી જોઈ શકાય છે.અને હવે પછી રોજના દિવસે લગભગ સાંજે સાડા સાત વાગ્યા આસપાસ યુ-ટ્યુબ ચેનલનાં માધ્યમથી આ કથા જીવંત સાંભળી અને જોઈ શકાશે.તેમજ આસ્થા ચેનલ પર સવારે ૧૦ વાગે તેનું આગલા દિવસનું પ્રસારણ પ્રસારિત કરવામાં આવશે.
બીજ પંક્તિઓ સાથે કથા આરંભ કરતા બાપુએ કહ્યું કે લગભગ એક વર્ષ પછી ફરીથી રામકથાના માધ્યમથી મળવાનું થઈ રહ્યું છે એનો વિશેષ આનંદ છે.રામ કબીર પરિવાર શાંતિનિકેતન પરિવાર નિમિત માત્ર યજમાન પરિવાર તરફ સાધુવાદ અને પ્રસન્નતા વ્યક્ત કરતા બાપુએ કહ્યું કે નિર્ણય ન હતો કે કયા વિચારને કેન્દ્રમાં રાખીને સંવાદ કરું! અહીં જે બે પંક્તિઓનો આશ્રય લીધેલો છે એ બાલકાંડના આરંભની પંક્તિ છે.રામચરિત માનસ શું છે?૩૬ અલગ અલગ વિધાઓમાં પરિચય આપવામાં આવ્યો છે.જે ગ્રંથને લઈને ગુરુકૃપાથી પરિભ્રમણ કરી રહ્યો છું તત્વત: આ ગ્રંથ શું છે એની વ્યાખ્યા ગોસ્વામીજીએ આપી છે.એટલે એને પ્રધાન વિષય તરીકે નક્કી કર્યો છે.માનસના આધાર ઉપર રામચરિત,વાલ્મિકીજીએ પણ રામચરિત લખેલું છે. ભવભૂતિનું ઉત્તર રામચરિત,આનંદ રામાયણ, અધ્યાત્મ રામાયણ અને શ્રદ્ધા જગતમાં શતકોટિ રામાયણ છે.વિશ્વામિત્ર પણ કહે છે:શતકોટી પ્રવિસ્તરં.વિશ્વામિત્ર માત્ર ભાવુક નથી,વિચારવાન પણ છે.એ કહે છે કે આનો એક-એક શબ્દ મહાપાતકનો નાશ કરનારો છે.વર્ષો પહેલાં કચ્છમાં રામચરિત્ર પર કથા થયેલી પણ રામચરિતમાનસ નીત નૂતન છે.રામચરિતમાનસમાં પાંચ ચરિત્રનું પંચામૃત છે.રામચરિત્ર,શિવચરિત્ર,ભરતચરિત્ર,હનુમંતચરિત્ર અને ભૂશુંડિચરિત્ર.પણ અહીં પાંચ જ નહીં નવ ચરિત્રનો સમાવેશ છે:રામચરિત્ર અને સીતાચરિત્ર આમ તો એ અભિન્ન છે.છતાં ગણતરી માટે એને બે અલગ-અલગ ગણીએ.શિવચરિત્ર અને ઉમાચરિત્ર પણ અભિન્ન છે એ બેને અલગ ગણીએ.ભરતચરિત્ર, હનુમંતચરિત્ર અને રાવણને મારી જવાબદારીથી અહીં મૂકવા માંગુ છું.જો કે એ આચરણીય નથી એનું ચરિત્ર આચરણ યુક્ત નથી.છતાંય રાવણનું પણ અવતાર-અવતરણ બતાવવામાં આવ્યું છે. અમેરિકામાં રાવણ ઉપર ત્રણ કથાઓ થઈ છે.જેમ સ્મશાનની ભસ્મ પાવન નથી પરંતુ શિવના અંગ ઉપર લાગે તો એ પરમપાવન બની જાય છે એમ રાવણ સાથે મહાસતી મંદોદરી જોડાયેલી છે. મંદોદરીએ રાવણ સામે રામની વાતો કરી એ વખતે રાવણ ક્રોધ કરતો નથી.ઘણા જ લોકો રાવણને સમજાવે છે.અકંપન,શૂર્પણખા વગેરે.એ વખતે બધાએ રાવણનો ક્રોધ સહન કરવો પડ્યો છે. તુલસીજી ચતુર્ભુજની આરતી ઉતારે છે પણ ચાહે છે તો દ્વિભુજને જ! કારણ કે તુલસીના કેન્દ્રમાં માનવ છે.પુરુષનો મહિમા તેની સ્ત્રી વધારી દે છે.
મૃગાંક શાહ લખે છે:
આંખે દેખાય ઓછું, મોઢૂં થઇ જાય બોખું,
શરીર થઇ જાય ખોખું,તો ઘર થઇ જાય ચોખ્ખું!
બાલકાંડનું સાધુચરિત્ર.
સાધુ ચરિત શુભ ચરિત કપાસુ,
નીરસ બિષદ ગુનમયી ફલ જાસુ.
અને નવમું બાબા ભુશુંડિનું ચરિત્ર.પૂર્ણાંકમાં આ નવ ચરિત્રોથી ભરપૂર આ ગ્રંથ છે.આ વાગ વિલાસ નહીં વાગવિહાર સમજી લેજો!
બોસ્ટન મહાવિદ્યાલયોનું નગર છે.અહીં ૩૬ લક્ષણો બતાવ્યા છે.કદાચ ઓછા કે વધારે પણ કહી શકો. ૧૮પંક્તિઓમાં આખું પ્રકરણ છે.મારા માટે આ વિષય વિશેષ છે કારણ કે વ્યાસપીઠથી આ નિર્ણય આવ્યો છે,આ વિષય આવ્યો છે.મારે માનસ મંત્રરાજ ઉપર બોલવું હતું એવું નક્કી કરેલું પણ અહીં બેસતા જ મારો નિર્ણય બદલાયો છે.
મંગલાચરણમાં ગ્રંથ મહત્વની પવિત્ર પ્રવાહી પરંપરાની વાત કરતા બાપુએ કહ્યું કે વિનયથી કહું તો મંગલાચરણનો પહેલો જ શ્લોક તુલસીજી નારી તરફ કેટલો પૂજ્ય ભાવ ધરાવે છે એ બતાવે છે.ગણેશની પહેલા વાણી-માતૃશરીરની વંદના કરી છે.એ જ રીતે શિવ પાર્વતીની વંદનામાં ભવાનીની વંદના પ્રથમ, સીતારામજીની વંદનામાં સીતાની અને ચોપાઈઓની અંદર જનકસુતા જગજનની જાનકી- એ રીતે ઉપનિષદનો ક્રમ માતૃદેવો ભવથી શરૂ કર્યું છે પણ ટીકા કરનારાઓ એને જોતા જ નથી!
ગુરુવંદના પ્રકરણમાં ગુરુ મહિમાનું ગાન કરતી વખતે બાપુએ કહ્યું કે ગ્રંથ પણ ગુરુ છે.વિશેષ ઘટના પણ ગુરુ બની શકે.વિશેષ મુલાકાત ગુરુ બનાવી દે.વિચાર પણ ગુરુ બની શકે.શરીરની સીમામાં આબધ્ધ ગુરુ હોતો નથી,ગુરુ અસીમ હોય છે.
ગુરુ મહિમા,વંદના પછી હનુમંત વંદના વખતે બાપુએ કહ્યું કે હનુમાનજીની વંદના ન કરી શકો તો વાંધો નહીં હનુમાનજીની મજાક ન કરતા.હનુમાનજીએ પોતાની મજાક પોતાની રીતે જ કરી છે.આજકાલ હનુમાનજીની મજાકની ફેશન બની રહી છે અને હનુમાનજીના મુખમાં એવા-એવા વાક્યો બોલાવાઇ રહ્યા છે માટે હનુમાનની મજાક ન કરશો.

ગુરુપૂર્ણિમા પર સહજ અનૌપચારિક જ કહેવાયું હતું કે..
બંદઉ ગુરુપદ પદૂમ પરાગા,
સુરુચિ સુબાસ સરસ અનુરાગા,
અમીઅ મુરીમય ચુરન ચારુ
સમન સકલ ભવ રુજ પરિવારુ
હમણા જ ગુરુપૂર્ણિમા પર સહજ જ,કોઇ આયોજન વગર અનૌપચારિક માઇક લઇને બાપુ બોલવા માંડ્યા ત્યારે જગદગુરુ શ્રીકૃષ્ણ ખુદ તેના આશ્રિત અર્જુનને કહે છે એ ગીતાજીનો શ્લોક ગુરુવંદનાની પરમ પાવન પ્રવાહી પરંપરા પ્રસંગ પર યાદ કરીને કહ્યું:
આ શ્લોકમાં કૃષ્ણ કહે છે અર્જુન! તારી ગતિ પણ હું છું,તારો નિવાસ પણ હું છું,તારું ભરણપોષણ કરનાર ભર્તા,સર્વ સમર્થ હું છું,હું પ્રભુ,તારા દરેક કર્મોનો સાક્ષી છું,તારો નિવાસ,તારું શરણ પણ હું જ છું. અને હું જ તારો સુહૃદ છું.હું જ તારો ઉત્કર્ષ અને તારો લય અને પ્રલય છું.હું જ તારો ખજાનો છું. હું જ બીજ છું એવું બીજ જેનો ક્યારેય વ્યય થતો નથી.જો કે જગતગુરુ આશ્રિતને કહે પણ આશ્રિત જ્યારે ખુદ ગુરુને કહે કે તમે જ મારી ગતિ છો.મારા માટે તમે જ આશ્રય છો-નિવાસ છો.તમે જ ભર્તા સર્વ સમર્થ મારા દરેક કર્મોના સાક્ષી,મારા સુર્હદ મારા લય અને પ્રલય તમે જ છો એવું આ ગુરુપૂર્ણિમા ઉપર સાહજિક મને થયેલું અને મેં કહેલું.કારણ કે કોઈને ખુલ્લા કરવાને બદલે એને ઢાંકવાનો પ્રયાસ એ જ સાધુચરિત્ર હોય છે.
