This is possibly the first time ever that so many common people have been invited as guests to the celebrations. It is good move,\u201d Morari Bapu said during his Ram Katha at the University of Cambridge on Tuesday morning.<br \/>\nMorari Bapu added that he was touched by the gesture.<br \/>\nThe country celebrated its 77th Independence Day with fervour on Tuesday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the celebrations from the ramparts of the Red Fort. In addition to top political leaders, bureaucrats, judges, and other dignitaries, the Centre invited 1,800 people from different walks of life as guests at the celebrations.<br \/>\nAccording to officials, more than 400 village sarpanches, 300 farmers, 50 primary school teachers, nurses and fishermen from all over the country were invited as guests to the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. Also on the special guest list were 50 construction workers, who were involved in the construction of the new Parliament building, 50 other workers involved in the construction of border roads and other projects, and 75 couples in traditional attires.<br \/>\nMorari Bapu\u2019s ongoing Ram Katha is being held at Jesus College, University of Cambridge. The discourse is a celebration of the long-standing relationship between Indian and English civilisations.
