The COVID-19 outbreak caught everyone off guard and significantly disrupted people’s daily lives. However, with significant efforts from faculty members, teaching assistants and students, CEPT University was able to complete the academic activities of this semester, online. Barring a few hiccups, everyone rose to this challenge and, succeeded.
There is still a great deal of uncertainty as to how COVID-19 situation will unfold in the future. It is also uncertain when the health risks will subside and universities will be allowed to start receiving students back on campus. Hence, while the University is eagerly looking forward to welcoming students back, it has decided to conduct all courses and studios of its Monsoon Semester 2020, online. It is better to be prepared for this scenario now rather than later. The Monsoon Semester 2020 will commence fully, online, from 27th July.
Continuing for 18 working weeks, the semester will have approximately 50 studios at UG and 35 studios at PG levels, conducted by over 120 accomplished tutors. While last semester the online teaching was only for half the semester, conducing the full semester’s teaching online is sure to pose a challenge for everyone – students, teachers and staff. However, this time, there is also more time to prepare for the same. CEPT University is viewing this as an opportunity to explore the potential of online teaching and learning. Over the next few weeks, courses and studios will be prepared to better align them with the online learning format, as proposed for the forthcoming semester.
In the 7th semester of the undergraduate programs, students are usually required to attend internships to professional offices. This situation allowed the university to review this internship requirement and continuing with the University’s choice based learning framework, the internship can now be completed in any of the last 4 semesters of the undergraduate programs. Owing to the current circumstances and uncertainties around internships, most of the students from the 7th semester have opted to take up regular semester rather than internships. Studios and courses will be added to accommodate these students.
